Ways to Organize Your Scarves Houston

Are you a great lover of scarves? Houston Professional Organizer has great storage solutions for your scarves.

Does you scarf collection just keep getting bigger and bigger?

These days, everyone is getting in on the scarf trend. And not just during winter. People are wearing scarves year round now. They’re collecting a variety of colors, patterns, fabrics, and styles.

Those of you who like to wear scarves probably might need a good storage solution for them.

Great way to organize your scarves is to use:

1. Scarf Hanger

Hanging your scarves takes zero drawer space and it displays them nicely for easy access.

2. Scarf drawer

My favorite way :)
Wrapping your scarves around cardboard keeps them in great shape and makes them fit nicely into a basket or drawer.

If you have drawer space available, this is probably your best scarf storage option. Especially if your scarves are valuable or made of fine materials like silk, it’s best to keep them folded or rolled up in a drawer where they won’t become snagged, stretched, faded, or destroyed by pets. Rolling them is especially good because they won’t get creases.

3. PVC Pipe Scarf Organizer

PVC pipe is really inexpensive and is a great way to keep scarves and neckties organized. You will need to measure the height of each drawer and then just cut the pipe into the proper height. Depending on the depth of your drawer, you may be able to get several pipe organizers in there and then you just roll up your neckties and/or scarves and stick them in the pipes.

4. Towel Bar
You can install a basic towel bars on the inside of your French doors.

some other great ideas to store and organize your scarves...

Magdalena Bogdan, European Professional Organizer Houston
having a little bit of fun with my fabulous client who had 199 scarves: yes we counted them and yes we donated 1/3 to

Every season,  my client found herself adding new colors and patterns and fabrics, because she is a big believer that every outfit looks a whole lot cuter and more stylish with a scarf. That said, lots of scarves equals a big storage and organization issue.

I prefer to organize scarves first by color and then season. Scarves of similar hues are grouped together to make it easy to find the right scarf for whatever outfit you might be wearing. I also keep all-seasons scarves separate from those thicker, wool and knitted scarves generally reserved for winter.

If your scarf collection reaches the double digits, it is time to donate some out of style scarves to Goodwill .

I hope with some of those ideas your scarves will be organized and easy to find!

Get Rid of Storage Unit, save money

"Whoever started the storage business is a genius.”

Why people pay to keep their things in storage?
Common reasons/answers: they moved to a smaller house, inherited stuff from a parent, or just accumulated too much to keep at home.

The sad part is when renters lose their belongings when they cannot pay their bills. Or when they die.

Then the storage units are put up for auction.
“At auctions of storage units, the contents are a mystery. Amid the junk buyers may find Rolexes and diamonds, or just someone else's sad story.”

Can you imagine all of your belongings being auctioned off to the highest bidder because you can't afford to pay the storage unit fees?

According to the Self Storage Association, 50% of storage unit renters are storing what won't fit into their homes. 1 out of every 11 Americans rents storage.

“The self-storage business is booming thanks to a nation of pack rats who cling to such things as 8-track tapes and pants with waist sizes long surpassed.”

Tip:
If you have had a storage unit for longer than six months, it’s time for you to have a garage/craigslist sale. You will not only be saving yourself $50-$80 a month in storage fees, but you’ll also make some many selling all of your old unwanted stuff.

Make a committment to yourself and your wallet, to get rid of your unwanted stuff within two months.

I can arrange for local charities to pick up unwanted items and get you a receipt for tax purposes.
I can drive to Goodwill to donate unwanted itmes, or hold a garage sale for you, for anything you don’t or can’t wear or use any more.

Remember: Use the two-year rule — if you haven’t worn it in two years, it’s time to say goodbye to it.

How To Organize Your Closet

Contact Professional Organizer Houston to get your closet organized. Make getting dressed fast and easy every morning.

Organizing a closet is never easy, especially if you have more stuff than available closet space.

The fastest way to organize your closet is to own fewer clothes because visually it will be easier to find what you’re looking for.

To organize your closet, take everything out and put  it on your bed; go through each piece of clothing one item at a time and assess when you wore it last.  If you haven’t worn something in one year and it’s in good repair, donate it to charity.

Start three piles of items: those you want to keep, those you will donate/throw away and a pile for maybes. Anything with too much wear, holes or stains needs to go straight into the trash. Holding on to old, damaged or unused items creates clutter, which slows down the flow of energy.

Few tips for organizing your closet

Tip 1: Don't keep what You Don’t Need/Wear
Tip 2: Go through your closet twice a year to maintain an organized wardrobe
Tip 3: Break the project down into small chunks, so its not so overwhelming
Tip 4: Get rid of all the wire hangers and dry cleaner bags cluttering up the closet
Tip 5: Use all the same hangers
Tip 6: Have the hangers facing the same way
Tip 7: Separate the types of clothes – group shirts with shirts, pants with pants, dresses with dresses
Tip 8:Organize by color – after you’ve separated the clothes by type and style - now it's time to organize them by color – all white short sleeve shirts together, all blue jeans togehter, etc.
Tip 9: Don’t keep anything on the floor

Got messy closet? It is time to get organized!

Getting rid of items you don't wear on a regular basis is a key part of keeping your closet clutter-free.

Organize Your Bedroom in Houston

Your bedroom is the first thing you see when you wake up every morning.

It sets the tone for the rest of your day. If you open your eyes to clutter, you will start your day feeling overwhelmed. But if you open your eyes to organization just think of the motivation you will feel and how that can carry you through the rest of your day!

Your master bedroom should be your peaceful haven. It should be the place you can go at the end of a long day to unwind, relax and rejuvenate.

Some tips for keeping your bedroom clean and organized:

  • Quickly grab anything that belongs in another room in the house. Move these items to the appropriate room.
  • Organize your closet and dresser drawers. Be ruthless. If you have not worn it in 6 months donate it to a Goodwill (You ever buy clothes and never wear them? Our taste in clothes constantly evolves so what you wore all the time a year ago you may not even look at twice anymore )
  • Recycle or throw away piles of old newspapers
  • Straighten up your pile of books
  • Vacuum: Don't forget to get into the corners and along the walls and use the extension attachment to clear dust and cobwebs from the ceiling
  • Dust all surfaces, headboard, footboards,  ceiling fan blades and wall hangings.
  • Wash your sheets and make your bed ( be sure to wash your bed sheets at least once per week and take the time to make your bed every morning).

Reclaim your own peaceful haven by organizing your bedroom.

"It is the place where you start and finish your day". You want it to be stress free and relaxing.
